Volvo overdrives
My Laycock/volvo overdrive has a grease fitting in the torque tube so I can pump grease into the splined coupler. I've also heard that my volvo overdrives without grease fittings should be packed with RTV/silicone when they're assembled. What do you guys think?

Re: Volvo overdrives
Isn't RTV/silicone a sealer like chalking?

Re: Volvo overdrives
works ok for gaskets and sealing. But if you pack your overdrive with it I think its all over.

Re: Volvo overdrives
It really depends on who modified your overdrive for use in a Model A. All builders do not use the same methods. I've used my Laycock OD for about ten years now with no greasing, no RTV. Follow the builder's advice.

Re: Volvo overdrives
I have driven the overdrive many miles in a 144 Volvo and would believe that RTV might be the end of the unit.
