Default Chassis Engineering Sway Bar

Has anyone used one of their sway bar kits on a '35-'40 stock front end? Their kit shows the vertical rods are attached to a small plate on the bottom of the axle pin. Are the stock pins long enough to accommodate the additional plate or do you need to replace the stock pins with a longer one?

Thanks

Tom

I'll tell you this, I bought one from them for my MII and it said right in the paper work that it was not guaranteed to fit. I had to do a lot to make it work but I have never been happy with it. I'm not saying they are bad or good, I hope I haven't confused you any, Sorry

The plates are approximately 1/16" thick, and a cup is stamped in it so that it fits into the wishbone clevis and the stock castle nut can be used.

Sometimes the stock axle pin will be long enough and sometimes you cannot insert the cotter key and resort to Loc-tite. Sometimes you need to shim the frame mounting brackets downward to clear the frame brackets that mount the radiator. I've installed 4 of them and each one was not a direct bolt-on fit. They do work good once installed. I prefer CE stuff to others and most aftermarket stuff never fits perfectly.

I used the Chassis Engineering swaybar on my factory front end and it worked fine. I did have to drill new holes in the perch pins for the cotter pins. Some of the earlier pins are a little short. You have to drill out 1 rivet on each side of the frame to locate the mounts then you have to drill out 1 hole on each side for the other mount bolts. Simple job and works great. I also installed one of there rear swaybars.

Drake sells CE parts. The bar in the catalog is a CE bar.

I have both front and rear sway bars on my 37. they both came with detailed instructions, It was a direct bolt on minus a few holes I had to drill. one of the best handling improvements I ever made!

If I'm not mistaken, the CE sway bar does not allow you to use the original lever arm shocks (at least not for 1939 and 1940). You probably already know that, but I want to save you the trouble if you don't. I got a OEM 1940 sway bar off of this site for next to nothing, Works great.
