Default New Shop is coming along.

My new Shop is 1/2 way done now. Rain delays have been every week. Floor is 6" thick, ceiling 13' tall. Any suggestions on led lighting and a 2 post lift? I'm going to enjoy working on model A's in here.

Don't buy a junk lift and you need 1ft adapters to Lift a model A

I got LED light fixtures the same size is the fluorescent fixtures from Costco. Brighter, although a little harsher lighting quality, but I am very happy with them. Good price, too.

If you want a 2 post lift, get one with the equalizer cables overhead, so the floor is uncluttered. My lift has the cables under a panel that sits on the floor, and while it is no trouble to drive over it, the 2 inch rise makes it impossible to use a transmission jack. Don't buy a cheap forign one, get a good one.

Ditto.

For a lift, take a look at Mohawk System 1 9000 lb. No cables; Only chain and hydraulics. Arm stands fit Model A perfect. Best in the industry, in my opinion. Clear floor - no hump.

Less expensive but just as rugged, look at Bend Pack.

Best of luck with your new shop. Merry Christmas.

Great info,I was looking at Bend Pack, and saw the Mohawk. Now I know the reason to have the overhead bar and not the one on the floor. The Overhead hoist is on the list.
Thanks

Buddy put all LED lights in his shop, and it's so bright it about blinds you! Probably not good on the retinas! But uses virtually no electricity.

the type with the 2" rise in the center of the floor where the cables run is for low overhead applications (low ceiling)

at 13 feet he has plenty of overhead height

I would recommend dead eyes in the floor for straightening frames but I appear too late

Paint the walls white for best lighting with a washable paint. Also white or nearly so floor sealer or white tile.

"oversize it, it will heat up or cool down fast"
a good way to burn up blower motors and AC compressors since this will cause rapid cycling. Sizing should be so that heat runs steady on the coldest day of the year and AC so that compressor runs steady on hottest day of the year. The hardest thing for a motor to do is to start up...that is a momentary short circuit of sorts until some back emf can be produced

Hi Wick:
Great project. Always nice to have more space for your toys. May I recommend if you can, to put another regular entry door so you don't have to open the the large shop doors every time you go in. It also keeps the tear and ware down on the big doors and helps with climate control. I had regular doors in the back of my garage and did not place one in the front. My shop is ac and heated and in the winter you loose a lot of heat and in summer ac every time you open the large door. ENJOY & thanks for sharing.

A couple ceiling fans helps the heater work less by warming the floor
