OK. I just got an email from Kenny Gollahon at Brookville. He stated that the 2" kick up option that they offer on the A roadster body is sort of designed around the after market frame that they offer. Makes sense.

It almost seems that the picture in the Bishop Tardel book is of the Brookville option for their aftermarket frame rather than what they had to do for the kick up described in the book.

This is the cut I made in the rumble seat riser to accept the raised rear crossmember. It's about 18" long. First effort was too far back so I had to make the hole wider. Let me add some dimensions in a while.

I remember them using a hump cover from Tudor or Fordor sedans to close up the hole.

Yeah, they show a picture of something of that sort in the book. But, I'm not in the Model A loop, the hole I cut is somewhat too big so I'm thinking of making one of my own. I can use some of my high school drafting expertise. It will be fun.

Get a chassis together and get a body! I've been working on the chassis for close to 20 years now and this was the year to get the body. Space limits me from having two cars (which is the same as a chassis and a body.)

My A coupe is on a '32 frame. This is what it looks like.

Is that the Ford part or a custom / hand made part?

Pete:

I have one of the 4 door sedan humps sitting in my garage. You are welcome to come take it and try it out on your roadster.

Pete,

Is your car a rumble or a trunk? The reason I ask, you may want to test fit the bottom seat springs. If rumble and Judging from picts., looks like you'll need to make a custom seat bottom to clear the x-member.

Never mind, I see it's a trunk car.

Another trick that Zach Suhr showed me was to make a clamping ring to go around opening and use an old inner tube to seal the opening. He used an old red rubber inner tube and it looked really slick.
