Default Re-Assembling Rear drum and hub

Some time ago I disassembled a rear drum to investigate the sound of a squeak. Ended up replacing the linings on the emergency plate after removing the entire assebly. I am now trying to get the drum back on but the positioning of the emergency brake assembly seems to be preventing this. Exactly where should the assembly rest in relation to the backing plate?

I did remove the emergency brake lever and have now refitted it. Would that positioning, if I have gotten it slightly out of kilter, have impact on the ability to slide the drum on?

Thanks

Is that new lining? Correct thickness if it is?

In your photo the stop when the brake is off, one side is bent the other side the brake band isn’t touching . When the band is relaxed against the stop the drum should side over the brake band. Also my band pins where facing out , your pin heads are facing out, maybe the cotter/split pins are holding the band from relaxing?

I agree with Big Hammer. Your carrier is bent, usually cause by pulling the "emergency brake" while moving. You can see where it has been hitting the parking brake linkage.

That lining looks awfully thick to me.

I guess I should have looked at this more carefully. Both L & R are not fitting. If I now understand correctly, the carrier line should continue in the arc. I also can see that the carrier indeed bows out (thus expanding the EB!) I am assuming that side on, the angle, as per the attachment should be 90 degrees?

Apologies for the shaky line; I failed miserably in drawing class!

Thanks

Thanks Bob; great picture. Just a question though if any one can answer. I note that there are two lugs on the bottom of the carrier - highlighted in a zoom in of Bobs picture. My 1928 35A does not have these - as per other attachment. My re-assembly of the hub issue is basically the movement of the emergency band as I try to slide the hub on. There is nothing to stop the band from moving - unlike in Bobs picture. I cannot see any evidence of the lugs having been ground off - so I am left wondering if I should try for a set of L&R carriers with the lugs?

Does any one know if the carrier of my 35A was as originally produced - were the lugs introduced later in production?

Cheers
John

This is from August 28, 1930 Service Bulletins.

LUGS ADDED TO EMERGENCY BRAKE CARRIER PLATE ASSEMBLY

Four lugs 1⁄2″ high have been added to the outer flange of the emergency brake carrier plate assembly A-2600 and A-2601. See Fig. 958.
These lugs provide additional support for the emergency brake band and lessen any possibility of the band shifting to one side.

Thanks Bob - obviously a response to an issue that had arisen

I just measured it with a micrometer - seems to be 7/32" - which is over size methinks.
