This is in three parts but maybe it will help you.

http://www.plucks329s.org/pdf/studie..._Part_%203.pdf

The rumble seat deck lid alignment plates go in the upper corners, left and right of the deck lid opening. I think there are 28-29 styles and 30-31 styles.

ll three parts ae on my website.

With the rumble lid contacting the alignment plates, how do you avoid that the contact with the plates chip the paint on the side edge of the rumble lid ?

I believe their purpose is to keep the front corners of the lid from hitting the sides of the body during driving. You will not keep the paint from coming off just like you can't keep the paint from coming off the latch tonges and the dovetails.

If you put a layer of the plastic chip guard material on the corner of the lid or on the plates it will help to reduce the chipping. Same material they use for protection on the hoods and rocker panels on the new cars.
