Default Exhaust manifold

I just cleaned, resurfaced and painted my exhaust manifolds in my 1950 F1. However the engine is an 8BA, and not an 8RT. When I bolted the left manifold in place, I noticed that there is only about 1/4" clearance between the manifold and the steering box. Is the 8RT manifold different than the 8BA?
