29 Roadster Seat Springs
Does this set of springs look stock for '29 roadster seat bottom? The springs measure about 1" taller than the Snyder reproductions....and the pictured set doesn't look 90 years old!

Re: 29 Roadster Seat Springs
It looks like you have the right front seat cushion spring with the valley for the front cushion crease, but the cover was installed wrong. I can see the cross wire that should be strung through a presewn loop that runs across the length of the cushion about 8 inches front he front edge, which will leave a nice crease across the seat cushion.
This is my Phaeton front seat from Snyders. Same as roadster. See the crease across the front? Underneath, the cross wire cannot be seen because it's strung through the cover. Yours is visible. Could you post a photo of the top of your cushion? The problem we had with the crease is that it disappeared in the middle because the wire would give and bow upwards. So we anchored it with zip strips get a nice even crease. (third photo). Probably wrong, but it worked. |

Re: 29 Roadster Seat Springs
For the crease to be more effective, a person can leave a gap in the padding for the listing wire to pull down into. The cover should have a listing loop across it that is shallow enough to pull the cover down well. Snyder's may not be the only repro product company that makes the spring boxes. 1-inch can be made up by pulling the cover tighter but it depends on the tension rate of the springs in the assembly.

Re: 29 Roadster Seat Springs
I agree with using it until it needs replacement. I've never been one to chuck stuff that is still working well and looks good. It's just not practical.
