Default Words of wisdom

Does anyone have some words of wisdom from first hand experience on installing a windshield in a 47 car with stainless trim?? I have new glass and new rubber seal. I have never done a w/s that has the stainless trim.
Thanks,
Steve

Check out Van Pelt Sales. He has a good series of period written directions. Here’s the link to the 1940 instructions.

I had a local glass man install mine in my 48. Rubber goes in first using glass cleaner as a lubricant. He did not use a cord on the windshield but did on the rear window wrapped around the rubber twice. For the windshield he used a plastic spreader to fit the glass into the rubber grove. The stainless went on last much the same way as the glass.
