Possible Vapor Lock ???
Lately I have an issue with my 31 coupe stalling out and hard starting after she is hot and sits for a while. She starts right up cold, we go for a ride on a hot day, I park the car and do not shut the fuel off, she might sit for 20-30 minutes. I go to start it and she starts but dies in a few seconds then I have to crank and crank and usually she will not start unless I leave it sitting for an hour our more. I noticed when I bought the car the previous owner did not lock down the fuel cap tight but I do. Also wonder if I should always shut the fuel off even if its only for a short time once hot.

Re: Possible Vapor Lock ???
Turn the gas off a couple hundred yards before you stop and turn the engine off.
The lower gas in the carb might help with the problem of today's gas boiling so easily. |

Pour some water on the bowl of the carb. It will start right up. Common problem.

Re: Possible Vapor Lock ???
Try leaving the gas cap loose like the previous owner, its very common problem! If that then fixes your problem, we can then fix the gas cap :-)
