Bought a "running chassis" that isn't exactly running yet. The flywheel wheel housing was a different color so suspicion was in order. The housing was run out and an extra .025 at the 9 o'clock position. Removed housing and no gasket or shims. The crankshaft run-out was good. Put it back together properly and see what I have or have the housing measured and/or surfaced first?

Put it together and fire it up and see what you have. Motor could be a knocker or a good runner.
I've done this many times and it can save you Alot of time and energy.
