Well it happened like this
Hi guys, well it happened like this, I have always loved seeing old cars, but being a prairie boy, I got into fixing ol tractors. This summer I found a beauty in the rough (a basket case lol) model A sports coupe. So I got here home from 2400 km away, and have been tearing her apart and making sense on my baskets of parts. In my search for more parts to repair my A, a nice old guy, said "Hey, you ever thought of doing up an old T some time...have I got a deal for you" well I don't know if I'm crazy or not (pretty sure I'm crazy) but he sold me the starts of my next project. Now to find more baskets...I'll keep you posted as I get more of a project than a boat anchor, pieced together

Model T's can be a lot of fun. There are several T guys in your neck of the woods and a lot of T parts around looking for a good home. I hope you can enjoy it as much as many of us have.

So far I'm having a blast with my A, lol, I love old iron, but other than my first and second trucks (1975 Ford F-150, 1962 Merc 1 ton) I've never worked on truly old cars cars, I'm looking forward to the challenge (I just love making old things work right again ) , and I like the idea of a T truck beside my A coupe. And you're right, in my search for A parts, I've actually found more T parts than for A's. Hope to have this engine freed up by the end of winter, and see where I go from there Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Well it happened like this
Well, as fate would have it, got given a body last Monday.... in pieces. It came as the back tub of a 26-27 with the front cowl and hood of a 25 and a set of fenders. In my back pasture was the front cowl of a 26.... 120 miles apart. Now to see if I can locate a 26-27 running gear in Manitoba/Saskatchewan. And I pulled a diff from my neighbours scrap pile last summer.
Now for the questions, how do I tell if a frame is for a 26-27? Will 25 fenders fit a 26 body (I think the fenders I have are 25 ish) |

Re: Well it happened like this
The 26/27 frame has a much wider rear cross member & it has ears on the front cross member to bolt the fender brackets to. The frame on the left is a 26/27 & the other is earlier.
The 26/27 fenders are quite different from the earlier fenders. 25 fenders would not fit without modification & would look very incorrect.

The engine photo reminds me of my first T in 1964. I hope you enjoy T's as much as I have all these years.
Best of Luck. |

Re: Well it happened like this
There was a larger car auction this past weekend, most of he cars were derelict and rough shape, including half a dozen T's and A's, but the guy was a hoarder, with the large number of cars , parts piles got passed and left , so today I ran around there and talked with the old owner and he helped me load these up instead of the scrap man, and I'm headed back tomorrow for more

Might be a good idea to post where in Canada you live. I have extra parts which i will never use. If you're in Alberta or Saskatchewan....who knows, maybe we can work something out!

And more bits of T and A. More there but in rough shape and I can only save so much. So pretty much have collected all the running gear, now to dig out the wd-40 Saving iron from the scrap pile one piece at a time |
