Question Gangsters

I was just wondering, if there were any famous gangsters that drove a 1949 Ford. Highly doubt it, but i cant find any info on this topic.

Most of the gangsters which I think you are talking about existed in the twenties and thirties, in the forties early fifties you had mob guys driving caddies.

Closest I can think of is Robert Mitchum's '50/'51 Ford in Thunder Road

I think '49 Fords were generally driven by little old ladies...

Mickey Rooney drove one as a "getaway car" for a robbery in Drive a crooked Road or something like that. It was a shoebox ford if not a 49.

I think the gangsters drive Chevy Capices with 24 inch rims.

A true story....
The famous Brinks robbery took place in Boston Massachusetts around 1950. The vehicle used to transport the million plus dollars loot was a stolen 1949 Ford pickup truck. They cut up the new truck and disposed of it in a dump in Stoughton Mass. The parts were discovered, and were linked to them, but did not help to solve the crime. I fondly remember the cops mistakingly referring to the firing order as the serial number back in the day. Specks Okeefe did not get his cut of the loot and turned states evidence against the others about about 6 days before the statute of limitations ran out. Most of the those involved came from the Boston neighborhood that I grew up in. With age comes faded memory in my case. Some of you younger guys can chime in and fill the mising pieces and may know more about the Ford F1 truck that was used.
