Camshaft
Now that i have my motor out at the machine shop i've been contimplating using a re ground cam to pick up some additional HP. but after looking through the macs catalog i,ve got sticker shock!
Does anyone out there know of a cam grinder that can do this for a reasonable price? and also any thoughts about advancing the cam for additional torque? Thanks Scott |

Re: Camshaft
One of the best things you can do is put in compression and use a stock cam for normal touring and driving. If your trying to up the rpm and go faster than 50mph
then change the cam. Torque is king in these motors. |

Re: Camshaft
Thanks for the info, as of sofar i have given the builder instruction to install the high compression pistons, not sure but i think their 6:1.
Prior to this, my 26 tudor would max out at around 35 mph. if i could get this thing up to a comfortable 40 mph on main drags i would be a happy man. my model a pickup will do 45 but i keep it 40 or under as it sounds happy right there. so if you guys think the stock T cam is ok i'll leave it be and let the extra squeeze do the job. Thanks Scott |

Re: Camshaft
My '26 came with a reground came from Chaffin's Garage in California. Haven't installed it yet but it is supposed to have better torque.

Re: Camshaft
Thanks, i was looking around on the computer last night and i think it was Chaffins that offered re ground cams for a reasonable price. $85.00 with core exchange it's a 270 lift, but i have no idea what a stock cam has for lift.
Macks is right down the road from me but they get around $500.00 for a new cam. thats crazy. Thanks Scott |

Re: Camshaft
Hi guys--just an FYI on the above notes. MAC's reground cam shaft part # T3041STK $95.00. MAC's New camshaft T3041/250 is $500.00. And of course, we have discounts all the time with our emails deals.

Re: Camshaft
Darlene, thanks for the info. i have purchased many parts for both my model t and A from Macks and have always been very happy with the service and quality of your products, John at the parts counter is a true gentleman and a pleasure to deal with.
Unfortunatly the reground cam you sell for #95.00 is a stock regrind and i'm looking for something just a tad hotter. |
