Default My Family's History finally Come's to Life.

My Grandfather bought a 1930 Deluxe Delivery new in Oct. 1930. I have only 2 original pic's of the Truck. I was able to find a nice original truck in May, 1971. I drove it for a couple years before restoring in 73-74. Everything was redone ,but after about a year later the paint started cracking . By now I was getting very frustrated .Things in my life started changing ,got married, had a family, Most of you guys understand that. I did have other cars to drive ,like Model T's, 1939 Chev . But I didn't feel like spending any more money at the time. So I put the truck in storage and just let it sit there. Now let's move 32 years forward, about 3 years ago I decided to tackle another restoration on the Truck. Well it is now DONE . Finished it last week and had the sign put on ( Just like Grandfathers ) .I have taken a few pic's of it, So here it is. First 2 pic's are the orignal Truck, the one taken from the rear is of my dad at the age of 11 taken in 1931. The 3rd pic is of taken of me in 1971 at the age of 19. And finally the last 5 pic's are of the new Truck. Hope you guys enjoy because I am for sure even after all these years.

That is awesome! My initial thought was that how cool would it be to cut up a few 1930 plates and make the same plate that was on your grandfather's truck.

STELLAR JOB! Wow!

Looks great. Were the original wheels red, or were they black?

Nice Job. I can not wait to get mine done. No family history, but local history. My Grandpa knew the guy who owned it originally and was good freinds with the husband of the widow I bought it from. He may have even worked for the person who used the body as a line shack, but we are not sure. Rod

That is really cool. The family history aspect of it just adds to the importance of the car.

Your post also brings up a pretty interesting point that I've thought about in this modern era of cellphones and the internet. There are probably more pictures of your Delivery than there were ever pictures taken of your grandfather. We take pictures today like we're pulling peanuts out of a barrel but back in the time of the Model A, they were sparingly taken and a luxury. Now, every aspect of a person's life is documented in some way.

Anyways, great story and a beautiful truck.

Well Tim, I have been doing a lot research about the history of printing in Seattle during that time. My Grandfather was very active in the Trade and in fact he was president of the local union and regional union all through the 30's. But I am still researching ,it takes a lot of time.

Yes I do have Tire Chains, but I do think it is Summer here in the NW. At least it was the last time I looked.

Thank you for nice comments. On the licence plates, the truck is 1930 and the plates in the picture are 1931. In the State of Washington the plates have to be the year of the Truck.
