Default Ardun question

adjustable screw.jpg

Ardun overhead valve query. This little piece was missing out of the kit. My father passed recently and I have inherited his project. He had never opened the crate since the early 1990s and so now I have my engine guy working on it and this one doohicky is missing.

Does anyone know if this is a standard item off the shelf from some other engine or is it a one off. I have emailed H&H Mike for help. The time zones are killing me and Don Ferguson is not email friendly.

Any help would be invaluable.

That's an adjustment ball stud for the pushrod end of the rocker arm. There are some other 50s-era engines that used similar adjustable rocker arm designs that may have an adjuster that could be used - something such as early Hemi, Olds Rocket, Nailhead, etc.

Brom, post dimensions of the adjuster with the length, ball and thread diameter and TPI count and there is a fair chance someone will know the original application.

Google "reproduction ardun heads" and see if any of the people reproducing the heads use that part and might be willing to sell some.

On an old Ardun build weused different push rods and had to change the rocker adjusters. I don't know which one we used but the thread was a standard size. This does not look like the stock unit and it might depend on the push rods. The stock ones were solid and prone to bending. I'm sure Don could give you the help you need. There were also long and short lifters.
