Default Recycle or sell?

Hi all,

I have a spare torque tube that I need to do something with. Is it worth selling or recycling?

Check with the Mitchell folks to see if they could use it for their overdrive.

Some have been used for collectors on home made exhaust headers .

I have scrapped a couple hundred of them in the last couple years. They never break, so nobody needs them.

I just parted out a rear axle, in large part due to a damaged torque tube. Sort of.

Root cause of the failure was at the pinion gear double tapered bearing race, which was slip-fit loose in the banjo housing. The spinning race ground its way forward about 1/4" into the back end of the torque tube.

So you could say "why not just replace the torque tube, and the banjo housing, and the bearing race"? Because as the bearing race was making its way forward it turned a good chunk of the torque tube into powder, which got into everything, and messed up all those other parts.

So Steve, when you say "they never break", I'm sure you mean "I've never seen a broken one".

A torque tube can, but they are really heavy for that. Ideally, a '35/'36 driveshaft is used for this.
