Default 1953 Mercury Monterey Literature

I would like some input on what are some service books to have on hand for a 1953 Mercury Monterey with the mercomatic transmission

I am looking for a good service manual with the specifications listed.

Any input would greatly help

Thanks,
Jesse

You might start with a Chilton's repair manual for the the era of the car. Also buy the Early Ford V-8 Club's 1952-53 two volume book. It covers the '52-'53 Fords, but much of the mechanicals on a Ford are the same as Mercury.

Two manuals that I believe are a must are available as reprints from several vendors, such as Vintage Auto Garage www.vintageautogarage.com. They are the 1952 Mercury Chassis Repair and Adjustment Manual and the 1953 supplement, the 1953 Lincoln Mercury Body-Chassis Repair / Adjustment Manual Supplement.

Also the parts books are useful. The 1949-53 Chassis parts manual is available as a pdf on the Lincoln Old Parts store but the body parts manual is not you may need to find a copy on the flea-pay.

Also since you have the mercomatic a mercomatic service manual (green cover) or early fordomatic book would be useful if you hopefully never have to dig into the transmission

I also picked up a hard copy of the 1901ff carb manual but the pdf is up on the old car project.

Good luck. The manuals are good but sometimes the old chiltons books give you tips that don’t require 70 year old proprietary factory tools

I have a lot of 1953 Mercury literature and memorabilia that I need to sell if you are looking for something specific.

I am looking for a dealer show room book for the 53' Merc. I know, but I thought I would ask anyway.

These two, are very good to have in your library. The first one is 108 pages and the second one is 105 pages. Both are well illustrated.

Unfortunately a dealer album was one item I could never locate
