Default What do we think of this

Hi once again, So i'm gonna set my water pump clearance to between .006 and .010 in. don't know how to do it? So what I did was measured my new pump gasket at .033 in. , I fabricated another gasket at .025in and will now put it together with that gasket , push the shaft in tight , set the locking ring in this position then remove the pump and gasket and install the new gasket [ .033] and I will have obtained the correct spacing. WHAT DO WE THINK?? thanks THE HOOCH

With the pump installed on the head , push the shaft all the way back in the head . Mark the shaft where it meets the packing nut on the water pump shaft . Pull forward on the pump shaft and measure the gap between the packing nut and where you had marked it wth a feeler gauge . A better way is with the upper water outlet removed . The gap can be measured through the opening in the head where the water outlet mounted .
