Default 31 Victoria Doors

I recently purchased a 31 Victoria and we are still getting acquainted. I find it is clumsy closing the doors when the windows are up. There are no door pulls like I had on my Town Sedan. Pulling on the door handle will stress the handle shaft. Has anyone mounted door pulls on the window frame?

Ed, you are right. I just pull on the handle enough to slam the door, thus putting only a minimum of strain on the mechanism. Pull as close as you can to the shaft of the handle.

I’m considering these pulls for my 31 Victoria, which is mostly stock. We’re these pulls common dealer accessories when the car was new?

Jim has it right on. you will learn how to close your with out pulling to hard on the handle. the Victoria and other slant window bodies just don`t look right with the door pulls.

You may be right. Plus, it looks like you would have to remove the inside window trim, drill holes, mount pull, and reinstall the window trim. I presume those window trim screws go into wood not metal. I’d probably be tempting fate by taking that old door part like that.

I fully understand that the door pulls were not original
with Vicky's. That said.... we have two Vicky's in our
local club. Both of us have added the door pulls.
They work well... and we think look good.

Unless you have perfect OEM door handles and don't want to break them I would stay with OEM style and not modify the car. The repros are inexpensive to buy for that one time you might break it.
If you drive in the Summer here in ME you will probably have your window down anyway and then you just grab the door itself. I have a S/W sedan for years and not broken the door handle yet. I am being in my life time I never will.
