OK...I have two assembled carburetors and have a problem.

I can not, trust me I have tried, to seperate the two halves and can not.

I have tried soaking them in evaporust....heating the only threaded area on the upper half, nothing.

Any other suggeastions? I sure do not want to ruin these.

Betchya the venturi has swollen in the body. I don't see sacrificing that as a big deal. Suggest taking out the throttle shaft and using a socket of appropriate size to knock them apart.

Remove the bolt that holds the two halves together. Replace it with a length of threaded stock. Run it in all the way in until it bottoms. With a heavy hammer smack the end of the threaded stock briskly a number of times.

As some one indicated above the frozen venturie is more than likely preventing it from coming apart. The brisk hammering should shear the venturie since it is soft metal. The two venturie pieces can be removed using a removal tool, supplied by vendors, or melt both out with a torch. Someone also may have glued the gasket to the housing. The same technique will break it loose.

OK...I forgot to mention...It is the attachment bolt that is driving me nuts...the darn thing will not budge even after heating on the upper part where the threads are and dropping it into cold water. Have tried this 3-4 times now. If I can get the bolt out...I can get everything else. If worst comes to worst...I guess I will have to cut the head of the bolt off and try to remove it that way.

Send it to berts for a rebuilt. Bolt it on and have fun!

So this morning I tried the "heat reduction" method on the bolt. Just heated the bolt for about 5 minutes along with heating the threaded area on the upper part...let it cool down in cold water and finally it released and started turning. Off it came.

Thanks for all the advice...now to get the two halves off without damaging the venturi.

I have used an air impact set so low it just "chatters"...it will just vibrate the bolt without destroying/ breaking anything.
This approach plus soaking in ATF combination for days should get the assembly loose.
Time is your friend. Low impact works well.

It's easy using the Venturi extractor on one side, the other side is very hard as it has nothing to get a grip on. My Venturi was already in two pieces as someone had already broken it and ground one side down flat. If it's stuck in both sides is there a way to get it out without ruining it? You may spend much more time than it's worth but an original Venturi is a little different in size than the repro I got. So I used an original.

Take photos of your process if you don't mind and explain how you attempt/complete this.
