Can anyone tell me what goes in this threaded hole in the firewall?

I believe there is a "C" clip inside that holds the speedo cable. It threads into the "D" nut in question.

TB is correct. Uses a 12-24x1/2" round head screw & lock washer.

Speaking of holes in a firewall, my 1929 Coupe has so many extra holes that were drilled in it over the years it looks like a sieve in places. Any good ideas how to fill those holes without a lot of work? I can't remember for sure how I filled all the extra holes in my dashboard....I think I used JB Weld, sanded and painted.
