Default Are 40 style replacement wheel studs gr5 or gr8

When using a replacement wheel stud (1940 style...) from any of the major suppliers, are the wheel studs currently available in grade 5 or grade 8 ?
Using a small file on one of the original damaged 1940 wheel studs, I find that they are quite soft when compared to a replacement stud for a later model Chevy, something along the lines of a 1970 Chevelle... Does anyone have any information on this stud and grading system? Thanks

Steve: Here is an excellent bit of wheel stud info.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...lts-grade.html

Read Post 3 here about benefit of Grade 5 studs.
https://forums.off-road.com/jeep-sho...eel-studs.html

I also have a 40 Ford and doubt very much if Henry Ford would have spent the extra money to use Grade 8 studs especially since it would be easier and cheaper to press and swedge Grade 5 studs in place with the drum. His engineers probably calculated the bolt pattern radius, number of studs and torque requirements needed to safely secure the wheel at minimum manufacturing cost.

I would expect replacement studs to be Grade 5 unless otherwise specified.
