Centrifugal Advance Springs
Are they these flat springs, or are there other springs inside? Don't seem to have much tension, and the outer ones ares not flat against the inners. Do I take the staked screw in the center out if I want to take it apart?

Re: Centrifugal Advance Springs
Take the small circlip off the top. Remove the thin washer and lift the cam away from the shaft. To put them back together, it helps to rotate one half. The springs are as you describe them. Do not bend them. If they are firmly anchored, and the shaft not worn where they touch, then the condition is probably reasonable. I am only a learner with flatties.

Clean and lightly lube as Bluebell says........We use a lubriplate spray , works well and stays on there for rust protection.
