Minnesota Title??? how tough
Anybody recently got a title in Minnesota for an old car that never had one, what were the procedures and fees? was there an inspection, I hate to trailer the car to get it inspected. How long did it take to get the title? Thanks much

Don't know about Minn. but I wouldn't think up there is a big deal getting a new title. I thought here in Houston, big big city, with lots of rules, it was gonna be a major pain, but it was very easy and fast, with only a Bill of Sale, last for 5 years, and NO Inspection!

Try going online (they must have a web site?). You'll then probably see what's required in black and white.

I was on that website, very vague. I had one dmv office say: take two photos, another say take four, and another say you have to go to the insurance comp. to get a bond.....these are some really crabby people that work there.

Cars that have been sitting on a farm or in a barn for 40 tears, were never issued titles.

Re: Minnesota Title??? how tough
4 photos, 1 of each side. Maybe take a pic of the serial number on the frame to be safe. A bond is probable, and costs around $300.... may have gone up since then. No inspection needed up here, I don't think. It's been awhile.
The bond is merely a way for the DMV to not be liable in case if the vehicle was stolen. (dragged off of someone else's farm field that only appeared abandoned, etc...) The Duluth DMV kinda suck, not as bad as Two Harbors. I go to Vicki in Silver Bay. The title card was something that was around since the mid 1940's, or maybe even earlier. I have two KB2 IH's from the Duluth maint. dept., and one had a title card in the cab (1947). All in all, MN ain't bad for getting a title. WI sux.

I should mention she is not a full fledged DMV office, but more of a licensing agent. But she's a lot easier to talk to, to get answers to any questions, IMO.

I've got a couple of titles for vehicles in Mn. with bill of sales. You have to bond the vehicle for three years and then you get a regular title. Don

I also am in Minnesota and have two cars without titles. Both sedans, a 35 & a 36. Both very rough. How do you get a bond? Do you do that before ging to the DMV?
