A rare/strange Instrument panel
Is anybody familiar with this Instrument panel? It's the first time I see one like this.
I don’t know if it was an original part, is evident that the Ammeter and the ignition switch are not originals. I found this panel in an 1929 Phaeton assembled in Argentina. Last edited by verrece; 02-10-2017 at 08:47 PM. |

Re: A rare/strange Instrument panel
Looks homemade as it is not symmetrical.

Re: A rare/strange Instrument panel
What's not symmetrical about it? The picture was taken at an angle.
I've never seen one like it but that doesn't mean much. I'd say it is clearly factory made. Have a look at the flat border around the instruments and what ever - and the grooves in the face.

Re: A rare/strange Instrument panel
Perhaps an early Argentina repro, sort of a mix of early and late.

Re: A rare/strange Instrument panel
Are those knobs at the top on both sides of the gas gauge? What are they there for?

I really like the ribbed design (like the '31 panels) on this panel. I wish the original panels for the USA models had it. |

I believe it is aftermarket,I remember seeing them available in the 60's,possibly J.C. whitney, they carried many A parts.

Sometimes, slightly altered, Old Re-Pro parts, become "collectibles", in their own right.

Re: A rare/strange Instrument panel
Classy panel! I collect aftermarket "A" accessories and would love to have one like this. I do have a new nickle plated repop 28-E30 panel that I'm going to 'machine-turn' the face of someday.

Re: A rare/strange Instrument panel
In my opinion, a talented person engraved a 1928-'29 vintage instrument panel. I guess that person liked the look of the ribs in the 1930-'31 panel.

Re: A rare/strange Instrument panel
It has to be an after market piece you can tell it was machine stamped by looking at the embossing
It has not been engraved and an original dash is much too heavy a gauge to emboss by hand. |

Re: A rare/strange Instrument panel
I'd love to see a dash panel or dash rail, carved from WOOD!

Re: A rare/strange Instrument panel
The Aristocrat had space for 2 extra gauges.

Re: A rare/strange Instrument panel
Some one has put a over size amp gauge in that panel.

Re: A rare/strange Instrument panel
rocket1, Post # 13: ". . . Aristocrat,aftermarket item"
-------------------- The old run of reproduction "Aristocrat" panels has been exhausted for the round speedo hole (L'30-'31) - and there are no more available except as a resale item (eBay, etc). I recently saw one advertised on CraigsList for the 'Inland Empire' of Southern California. However the reproduction with the Oval ('28-E'30) is still available if you search. I think Sacramento Vintage Ford still carries the last of the reproductions. $100 the last time I looked (10 years ago). The reproductions do not have the 'crispness' of the originals, and are plain aluminum - no etching, etc. |
