Bumper chrome
Two questions. 1: I can find nobody that chromes bumpers in the Denver area, or surrounding area. Can anyone tell me who chromes bumpers in this or surrounding states? Is their quality good and what is approximate price (36 sedan bumper)?
2: Has anyone had good luck polishing scratched existing chrome? If so, how did you do it? What materials did you use? Thanks, Royal |

Re: Bumper chrome
We all have to freight to the platers. Absolute best show-room quality it in Sacremento and aprox $500 per bumper while next level quality is in LA for $300.
If you can find someone in between get recommendation of quality price and completion/ship dates. You might consider buffing yourself with under $100 for polish and wheels for a 10 foot quality job. |

Re: Bumper chrome
Try getting ahold of Steve at Bert's (Model A) in Denver and ask who does his plating.

They did the bumpers on our '54 Ranch Wagon back in 2012 and they look like the day I picked them up. HRP (423) 542-6532

Re: Bumper chrome
Tri-city did mine, they had a set of cores so I didn't have to wait. The wife and I made a weekend trip to Tennessee to pick them up, they met me at their shop on Saturday morning to pick them up. They did a lot better than the bumpers on my GMC that were done in Atlanta.

Re: Bumper chrome
I'll second North Star Plating in Brainerd. I used them for a bunch of stuff last year and it turned out great and the price was OK. They were kinda slow turning it around, though (4 months).

Re: Bumper chrome
I had my two '36 bumpers done at Ogden Plating in Ogden, Utah. Both parts came out beautiful. They each were $600 but that included the shipping to them and back from Greeley, Colorado.

Re: Bumper chrome
I sure hope Ogden is good quality.
They quoted $2400.00 to plate my new 1934 Ford windshield frame. That is 6 times the cost of the frame new. Sherm's plating in Sacramento (who is known as one of the priciest platers around) charged me 350.00 Show around for price and quality. |

Re: Bumper chrome
Looks like chroming a bumper is expensive and I'd have to pay shipping two ways. At Macs the price is around $360 plus shipping for a new chrome bumper, plus shipping, and $470 for a stainless steel one.
Has any of you bought one of these bumpers lately? How is the quality? It may well be cheaper and just as good to buy a new one. royal |
