'40 tailights housings & rear fender brace.
Have some good used original taillight housings for the '40, but the studs that hold them in place are broken off , probably from removing them. They look like carriage bolts. Are they carriage type bolts or are they spot welded into the housing ? Best way to take them out, drill the head off ?
Also does someone reproduce the '40 rear fender brace that supports the rear of the fender behind the wheel ? anyone have photo of what they look like ? Thank you Foordbarners. |

Russ,
They were originally pressed in. You should be able to hammer or press them out. Be careful to back up the sheet metal surrounding the bolt head. Carpenter (ph. 800.476.9653)has the braces. Part 81a-16341-b, $25 for the pair.

Re: '40 tailights housings & rear fender brace.
Put an appropriate sized socket behind the head of the bolt, and then hit the bolt remains with a hammer. Install new carriage bolts from the rear, and tack weld them in
