Re: Fancy a ride? Join me for the maiden run in my survivor 41pu.
Mart, Great videos of your first drives. I noticed a little valve train noise and perhaps a miss indicating possibly stuck valves. Have you checked compression yet? Keep 'em rollin.

Matt, it's always a great day when you can fire up a new project, and get it moving. Looks like your garage is a wee bit full! Great flathead.

Re: Fancy a ride? Join me for the maiden run in my survivor 41pu.
Ok, I say survivor. At least it was not a bare shell when I bought it. More of a fixer-upper. This isn't the one I was doing up as a project a few years ago. It's another one. I bought this last September, so it's been roughly six month's work to get 'er up and running and drivable. I'm just back from the second maiden run, which went relatively well. I'm feeling pretty chuffed. early days yet, and lots of teething issues to sort out, but it does drive nicely. I've done nothing to the body, it's a bit rough, or "patinated" if you prefer. All the work has been getting a decent set of running gear in it and making sure everything mechanical is tip top. and wiring. I wired it from stem to stern from scratch. Anyway, two runs out on the road, first time ran out of fuel but got back safe, conked on the drive. Second run, went ok, still conked on the drive. Have charging issues. New regulator on it's way.
I'm feeling pretty chuffed and wanted to share. First a pic. It needs a wash and the hubcaps and trim rings fitting but what is most important it that it is in the car park of the supermarket up the road instead of in my garage. I finally managed to stitch these video clips together and have posted the link to the new, combined video below. So, in the best Mart Shake-O-Vision, join me for the genuine maiden run in the pickup. If you're prone to sea-sickness the camera work may not be to your liking! https://youtu.be/tz0-1w4CrsI Still plenty to do, but now it's down to de-bugging and fixing issues one by one. Cheers! Mart.
Now this is COOL!!! I am very happy for you!

Great ride along. Is your truck a 41 or 40 trim looks to be 40, wife noticed. She has a 41 if I get time to get it into paint

I love my '41 P-U...bought it restored a year ago because at my 76 years I did not want to endure a lengthy project
