59A Engine Fitted with Truck water pumps
59A Engine is fitted with the double pulley water pumps, truck type with bearings?
Do you require a special rebuild kit for these pumps due to the double pulley set up? Where to get these kits? Thanks, Phil NZ |

Re: 59A Engine Fitted with Truck water pumps
The rebuild kits contains a ballbearing and a bushing where the regular pump is bushing only.
The new kits that was sold seems to be gone...so NOS or if someone has piled up a bunch. |

And the procedure to strip these pumps is somewhat different...Use a bearing separator around the pulley and, supporting the bearing separator in a press, press the pulley off of the shaft. After which, you can turn the pump housing over and support it on a suitable sized piece of pipe etc, and press the bearing out of the housing, leaving the impeller behind.

Re: 59A Engine Fitted with Truck water pumps
I would send them to Skip Haney. He does them for us. Usually, when installing a kit, the pulley is broken by trying to remove it. and a kit doesn't fix it. Skip is an expert. You can reach him at 941-505-9085.

Yes thats correct in NZ, and the dreaded shipping costs. Have some kits on the way from Barnfind08 and armed with Brian's info for dismantling these pumps should be good.
They will be" standby spares" when done. Always appreciate advice and assistance offered on this site. Phil NZ |

Used a strong back at bearing separator to remove pulley. Then pressed out shaft from impeller in the vice. Thanks Brian. Phil NZ |
