Default New master cylinder

Hi guys I'm new to this site. I have a 55 Victoria 272cu.in. w/a Fordomatic. I'm looking to upgrade the master cylinder to a duel cup. I know there was a video at one time that was on you tube, but that's been taken off. I know it was a 67 Mustang drum/drum master. Does anyone know what the other parts were. Thank You.

If you are retaining four wheel drum brakes, there really isn't much else you need. The MC has to be drum/drum.

EDIT -

... and MC either MANUAL or POWER ASSIST, depending on how you will be going...

The length of the brake pedal rod may be different? There should (only) be a very slight amount of end-to-end play in the rod between the pedal and master cyl.

You'll also need at least 1 new piece of steel brake line and a couple fittings.

Curious, why change to a dual cup M/C? and why is that an up-grade?

50's Fords had a single bowl / single circuit master cylinder for the brake system. If there's a problem it affects the whole brake system, as in having no brakes.
Beginning in the middle 60's brakes were upgraded to dual bowl / dual circuit master cylinders to increase the odds of still having brakes in the event of a problem, leaky wheel cylinder, etc. because half of the braking system would still function.

I don't like the T-Bird's guy using Teflon tape on his fittings. But the newer master bolts right up. I kept my old push rod and the new one lengths the same. This will get you in the ball park.

The new master rear port plumbs right into the rear line. Some guys block off the rear port on the junction block and plumb the fronts the same as it was with the single master.

Then comes what to do with the brake light switch. I left mine hydraulic (came with new proportioning valve) but some guys hang the new style ones off the brake pedal with a little ingenuity.

Mine was a disc conversion and I had to make up a few lines for it.

I keep the absolutely correct Master Cylinder -- when you change that single master cylinder to a dual -- no need to change rod, linkage, etc..... you DO have to address the stop light (brake light) switch situation.....
will let you know your three (3) options, there.....

I don't think the duel M/Ss like 1/4 lines. JMHO.

You will need one 20" length of 3/16" brake line 2 elbows like this to connect to the existing front and rear lines https://www.etrailer.com/Accessories...BoCWNMQAvD_BwE and the master will need an one adapter from 1/4" to 3/16". (Ace Hardware has a better selection of fittings if you bring your parts to match) The night before you tackle this chore soak all your old fittings with PB Blaster or WD-40 and be sure to use flare nut wrenches only so you do not strip the fittings.

Never use thread tape of any kind on brake lines, or any other type of sealer. if you need this , you have a problem that needs corrected.

Correct. If the tape gets into the hydraulic system, you are going to have an unpleasant day.

Quality flaring and quality fittings are all you should need.
