Default Shipping car parts to New Zealand

OK, for you Kiwis;
what's the cheapest way to get a gas tank sent from Los Angeles to New Zealand?
Checking FedEx it's over $700US, and according to the USPS website, the US Post Office won't even ship it.
Is there a practical way to do this?
Thanks.

Get the buyer to set up an account with Mainfreight Automotive (Kiwi Shipping) in Compton CA . You ship to them and they on ship to NZ, way, way cheaper than UPS etc.

This ^^^^^^. Steve Curle is a top bloke, and so are the folks he works with. It will land at Tauranga and incur GST and MPI charges, but it's the only way to ship big stuff.

Get a price from Paul Stichbury at CFR as well. I have shipped cars and parts thru both CFR and Kiwi Shipping(Mainfreight) and have found Paul to be top notch. Excellent service and competitive prices.
