Question Throw Out Bearing

I am going to be replacing the throw out bearing on my 28 Leatherback. I am also going to get the new hub it goes on. Is there a trick or simple way to get the bearing on the hub, or would I need to take it somewhere to get it done?

Thanks!

It's best assembled with a hydraulic press, a nice steady pressure. You could rig something up to use a bench vise if you have one big enough.

Looking for the front bumper emblem that has "Ford, Made In Canada"

A vise works just fine. It just needs to be pushed on squarely.

You say 1928, Does it still have the Multi Disc Clutch ?? If so, just remove snap ring, hold the bearing & tap collar it rides on with a brass drift and it will come of pretty easy..

It's a late 28.

I had good luck with just freezing the bearing. It tapped in real nice.

The bearing is just a light press fit to the collar, so it should easily tap into place by using an oak board and hammer. Lightly tap side to side until the bearing is all the way down. As mentioned, a large vice or press will easily push the bearing into place.

You should tap on the inside of the bearing so you aren't hammering against the balls. I save an assortment of pipes and copper tubing for such jobs.
