Default Stromberg 97 Problems

I have two New Stromberg 97's straight from the box. The first problem is: The car flood badly. I have #45,42, & 38 jets along with #65 & 68 power valves. I have tried every conceivable combination with these parts with the same result. Second problem is: On both carburetors only one idle adjustment screw has any effect. Very rough idle until you raise the RPMs up to between 500-600. After that the engine smoothes out and runs great on the road. I've spread water around the carburetors and intake to check for vacuum leaks found none. The engine runs good on the two Holley 94's but they leak. I've had these things apart so many times now that I would not feel good about sending them back. Any help would greatly appreciated. Thanks and God Bless, Selmer

What idle speed are you trying to achieve?

Fuel pressure? Stroms don't like much more than 1 1/2#. Some replacement pumps have too high pressure. I would install a regulater.
