Re: Model A's named after Females
When all is right in the world the cars are a dream to be with. Then sometimes out of the blue they can be a real pain, nothing you do seems to make the car run happy again, and everything you once did and thought has to be done all over.
My car is named Tess.

Re: Model A's named after Females
For reasons we can no longer remember, all of our cars have had names that began with the letter 'B'. We currently have Bella ('29 Tudor), Brenda ('29 Roadster), Bailey (modern cream colored station wagon), and Bubbles (Infiniti FX35). Past cars have included Brownie, Blanca, Beast, Bluey, and Buzzbomb. I have room in my garage for one more Model A, and I would love to own a CCPU. That car would be the only male car I've ever owned, and his name has already been chosen: Buster.

Re: Model A's named after Females
My Tudor has always been known in our family as Maude, who was the cars original owner. Her niece inherited the car & when I took it back to its hometown in 2000, she told me they had also referred to it as Maude.
The photo dates from 1969. |

Various As I've had include Phyliis, Cedric, Wilfred, Flora, Henrietta and Colonel Khaki (which when sold underwent a sex change and was renamed The Duchess.)

In the tradition of my daughter's naming of cats (Kaycee - for kitty cat; and Gracie for gray cat) - the Roadster is Enndie - for Nickle and Dime 'er

Re: Model A's named after Females
I named my pride & joy "Annie," after my dear departed mother who would have really enjoyed riding around in her waving to people & using the horn! The day she arrived at my house on the back of a flatbed it would have been her 75th birthday so karma took over & the name stuck

Re: Model A's named after Females
My '31 deluxe roadster is called "Virginia". She was assembled in Virginia in
1931, I bought it in Virginia a couple years ago, and my mother's name was Virginia! My '29 roadster at present is named the "Clown Car". I mentioned once here on the 'Barn about all the "unauthorized accessories" that I will be loading it down with. And a purist said it would look like a "Clown Car" once I did this. So, hence the name. I might change it to a female name if I find a female clown's name I like. My unrestored '29 Chevy is named "old Tenn" because I bought it in Tennessee. Bob-A |

Re: Model A's named after Females
When I bought my pickup a couple of years ago, one of the first questions my Dad asked was: "What did you name it?" (So far -- no name -- just: the pickup!)

Re: Model A's named after Females
My 31 S/W fordor 160A is Henry and his roommate in the garage is a 30 standard coupe named Hannah. Both seem to be too old to reproduce.

Re: Model A's named after Females
I have named my engine also - "Connie" - it's all about talking to her if it's hard to start, cold, or in a hurry. I'm sure we can all relate to that!

My first car (and Model A) was a graduation gift from my parents was a 1930 Briggs fordor. Painted on the gas tank next to the instrument panel was "Hector".

Re: Model A's named after Females
That's a good one, but another in the Model A club has named one of their sedans Grace. I think I'm going to have two of my grandkids name it, they love the new sedan. Six yo grandson is already helping grandpa work on the Model A. The 10yo likes the Model A, but prefers the '41 Ford. Anyways, I'll give them the task. |
