They’re still out there !
Acquired this 40 Tudor today. 48K original miles, original upholstery with one repaint in 1960. Has owners handbook in glove box with radio and heater instructions and a letter from the alemite company about the lubrication of the new car. Tool kit and jack in the trunk.

Re: They’re still out there !
Great find! My 40 Fordor has about the same history, mileage, one repaint, original interior. The previous owners had kept a small Motors record book that the first owner started using in 1940 to record gas purchases and maintenance. It has the very first fill up and entries up through 1972 when the car came east to Peterborough NH from Chicago.

Re: They’re still out there !
Good score. Give it a wax job, change the oil if it needs it and drive it often. Probably a nice tight rattle free Ford.

Re: They’re still out there !
The old gentleman that’s here in my home town in Alabama got it when his sister passed away several years ago. He tells me she bought the car in the mid 50s and was the second owner. She lived in Georgia at the time of her passing and he never changed the plates. He also never drove it so it sat obscure for years unseen. I first heard about the car back in January and at that time was able to get a close up look at it.

Re: They’re still out there !
Congrats. A nice one. Finding something like this is a blast. I found a Model T that had been in someone's garage since the Mid 60's. Hard to believe that stuff like that is still out there, but it is.

Re: They’re still out there !
Sweet Ken, do you go to any local car shows in your area throughout the year?
AND do you go to Cruising the Coast in October over in Mississippi?

Re: They’re still out there !
Never been to Cruising the coast . I do go to some of the local shows if it happens when I’m off . My go to is the Moonshine Festival in Dawsonville Georgia every year. Lots of 39-40 Fords there.

Re: They’re still out there !
Have to talk about my interesting "find" due to the similarities, although mine is a Standard not a Deluxe. This also was a 48,000 mile original with one repaint, no rust, original interior.
Interesting history: previous owner put only 307 miles on it in 29 years of ownership! Here is the back-story on that: Previous owner was a small business owner in suburban Chicago. He bought the car in late eighties, had it correctly repainted, but then he was afraid to drive it because it had mechanical issues (bad coil, etc) that his local shop didn't/couldn't get fixed. He got frustrated and just left it parked as a conversation piece in his attached five-car garage. (He did drive his mid sixties T-Bird and Continental with power steering and AC) In 2016 he and his wife finally decided to sell the '40, but they only ran an ad in the local Craigslist. They listed it cheap because their shop got it to start and drive, but engine had an obvious miss. I was first person to look. Seller told me (and I believe it true) he had others wanting to come see it, including one who had agreed to buy sight unseen. I took a risk on the engine because the rest of the car was so pristine, and asking price was only $13,900. I gave him $14,000 so he could tell others it sold for over asking, so maybe they wouldn't feel so bad about missing a "find". Three years later the car has 50,000 miles, all mechanical issues are finally resolved, including a sticky valve from sitting so long. Although, "the work is never done". They are still out there! Re: They’re still out there !
Yeah, Zeffer, I got lucky for once. But it also took some patience. I was on-line shopping almost every day for about a year, and traveled to look at a number of cars that I wanted but walked away from for one reason or another. Then finally got very lucky, found the right car at the right price, close to home.

Looks like patience paid off! It's difficult to not want them all....

Re: They’re still out there !
I also found a long in storage 40 tudor but not as pretty and complete as the two here. car came from south Georgia in early 70's and sat in a building on jack stands until now. good solid body, but complete. there was a case of the chrome cleaner in the trunk along with missing grill, grill guards, wing tips.

Re: They’re still out there !
Ken, That is a beautiful 40 and its funny how so many had 1 repaint. You should post a picture on the HAMB in the 40th anniversary of the 40 Ford; the guys would love to see it. Enjoy your 40
