Default How to fix a dome light switch

Hope someone can use this. It's not beautiful but it's hidden. This dome light has the toggle built right in but the switch part of the mechanism was gone. Bought a micro slide switch, filed the slide round, bent the tabs down to fit over the housing, then soldered the switch on. Got a piece of hard plastic and cut and filed to fit (with tabs bent over it) then drilled a hole for a stove bolt. Soldered the bolt to the copper contact for the light and attached to the plastic. Soldered the bolt to the center contacts of the switch and soldered a power wire to side contacts covered it all with liquid tape just to be sure of no shorts.
With all the info I have gleaned from you barners it's time for me to return the favor!!!
