Default Press on timing gear

I just got done taking my 37 engine apart to get ready to go to the machine shop and one tooth on my cam gear is half missing. I probably should fix it while it is out right? Where can I find the correct gear? I would like to get it as fast as I can so the machine shop can press it on for me.

Also, is there some type of key way or something? I see no marks on mine. How do you know where to put it on?

No keyway. It's marked , clean the surface really good and look around the edge of the center hub. I would replace it with an aluminum press on.

Jeff,
You will see what looks like a chisel mark on the nose of the cam and a
similar chisel mark on the steel ring on the inside diameter of the timing gear.
Ford fixtured the cam and the gear for a fool proof press together assembly, you must
on the other hand eye ball the marks and cross your fingers things line up and
don't move around during the press on phase. I like the bolt on style gear and cam
and usually use press on style camshafts as property boundary markers....that's
just me.
I received your email and 'that' is no problem.

I will look for marks. I honestly don't see what you describe. I will take a pic.

You are welcome Charlie, I had taken those pics + more, for a post here where one of our members was trying to get his timing set correctly, and he did not have those marks in alignment. We got him straightened out, and a guess he is one the road now, and hopefully running good .

ps....that little mark an the cam is sometimes very difficult to see, especially for the guys who for some reason take a slight face cut on that front mounting hub
