New Guy with Many, Many Questions
So, i'm a native Iowan who grew up in the 60s & 70s working with his grandpa on the farm. In Grandpa's semi-retirement from farming he took to restoring old Fords: 1929 Model A, 1930, 1931, a truck, and partial restoration of my favorite, a 1939 DeLuxe Tudor Sedan. I never imagined I would end up with this car, but about 12 years after Grandpa died, my aunt offered to sell the '39 to me. So it's followed me around now (Air Force career), or sat in storage, for about 15 years, and I'm finally ready to continue Grandpa's restoration. I guess i have his love for things mechanical, and for restoration. Most of the interior is finished, but nothing under the hood has been restored, so that's where I'm working now, as time and money avail. I want to do the best I can at a correct original restoration. I have the EFV-8 Ford Book for 1938-1939, and have done a lot of reading; have learned a lot. But I can't find much for pictures of a restored-to-original engine compartment for this car. I would love to have the Ford Barn community's suggestions, pics if you have them. Mike

Re: New Guy with Many, Many Questions
Welcome to the Barn! I don't have a 39', so I can't be of much help on the original engine compartment situation. However, if you have mechanical questions on the engine, trans or drivetrain, be happy to help. Good luck and ask away!

Re: New Guy with Many, Many Questions
Mike, Welcome. I am not a 39 person really only 34s. The Early Ford V8 Club Of America produce a series of restoration manuals for many different Ford V8s. The 1938- 39 restoration manual would be a very big help to you. It costs $34.95 plus $4.50 post. Look them up on line. Good luck with your car. Regards, Kevin.

Welcome to the Barn. Check out post #102 and 103 on page 6 in the attached link of engine photos. They show several 1939 and 1940 engine restorations. Enjoy!
