Default Double venturi

I am rebuilding a early '28 carb that was meant to be a double venturi but it is missing. Can a single venturi be used and will it still perform well? The jets are in line and are close together.

The correct venturi is sold by most suppliers. It might run with the later one, but I would bet it would not run well. Rod

Your Zenith should have a little pin installed on one side where the double venture mounts. Often they have been ground off to accommodate the single venture. The double venture has slots in it the pin goes into to prevent the venture from rotating.

I have used a single venturi in such a carb- it runs reasonably well except for a slight initial hesitation when accelerating- acceptable in normal usage but a double venturi would be better.
