Default shackle studs

Has anyone used nolathane or urathane shackle (stud) bushes? on the springs,
If so how did they go.
The shackles on the 33 are not looking too good and have put out enquiries for NOS ones, but needed a backstop if they are not avail.
Thanks Lawrie

Used them in my last 3 cars and worked out fine.Orig style are a pain to install unless you have the proper tools.

Don't know how orig you want them to be but the new orig replacements I have come across have nylock or pinch nuts. The orig were longer w/castle nuts and cotter pin. They appear on EBAY but some NOS and NORS have dried out.Sent you a PM

I have been using Delrin (nylon) spring bushings since the 50's.
I make my own. Slip fit both inside and outside. 2 bushings per hole and flange on one end of each.
I like them because if you keep them greased, they never wear out.

Moly impregnated Nylon 6/6 in my '41. Installed them in 1995 and were still good when we sold it in 2017. May be able to get the bushings in correct size thru McMaster-Carr Supply. I made mine like PETE with flange

I’ve done both original and Poly , poly bushings are so much easier, I ended up drilling the shackle pins for cotter pin’s and castellated nuts so they look original from the outside.

Run pete and jake shackles up front on the 38, Poly bushings. Rear are bolts with drop shackles and poly bushings. So far so good. The older new versions of nylon bushings hollowed out after a year. Don't like putting anything thing with nyla-nuts on my truck, castle nuts and pins.

Not sure why you couldn't use the original studs with Poly bushings??? maybe someone could add.

This arvo I made a set using nylon poly stuff from the bearing supply Co.
Looks good, easy to do and used the repo shafts from the repo studs, will fit them up tomorrow.
We have a 2500 trip out to winton in the next few weeks so that will be a test to see how they go.
