Amber light bulb
Has anyone found an amber colored bulb for the cowl lights? I believe it is a #63. My cowl lights are used as turn signals and I want to keep the original lenses so thought a yellow bulb would be good. Has anyone done this? Source for the bulb? The car is 6v positive ground. Thanks guys

Re: Amber light bulb
Yellow bulbs only 12V. You can use 6V LED bulbs though, they come in amber.

Yes, they do exist if you search eBay long enough.

Re: Amber light bulb
You can buy glass die at the crafts stores. Should handle the on/off of the turn signals. Check the LED sellers, they may have bulbs in different colors.
6 Volt Negative Ground Chassis - Automotive LED Lights (many of above LED's don't care which ground is used, but they do have a section for positive ground) I have seen a number of amber colored bulb where the globe was painted from the suppliers, not all were amber glass.

Re: Amber light bulb
Thanks for the good ideas guys. I thought about using glass paint but couldn't find it locally so gave up on that.
Has anyone used the led bulbs from Snyders?

Re: Amber light bulb
Thought about a lacquer spray but I don't believe it would take the heat.

Re: Amber light bulb
Mine are amber LED, but 12 volt. I think the place I got them in the UK has them in 6 volt as well. ([email protected])

Re: Amber light bulb
This should work well for cowl lights. Be sure to select the color.

Re: Amber light bulb
I used a set of yellow bulb covers for my 55 F-100. 10 years and no problems. Although I can't recall where I go them (maybe E-Bay) check the link below if interested.

Re: Amber light bulb
Back in the early 60's when they first came out the parts manager at the Pont/Caddie dealership and I tried "tinting" the regular bulbs, didn't work.

Re: Amber light bulb
I painted the bulbs with yellow paint, but I didn't like the look, you can see the yellow bulb. I now use as amber leds
Available from Amazon.
