Default 12v alternator/generator - 50 Merc

This might sound stupid but does anyone know of a 12v alternator available that looks like a stock 6v generator? I want to convert to 12v but keep it stock looking. An alternator will stand out like a sore thumb.

Why not just put a 12 volt generator in from a 62-64 Ford?

They look about the same as a 6 volt and work OK.

I have had one in my 50 f1 since 1974 with no problem. It just bolts in after you remove the little location pin in the generator bracket.

Or, you can just use the case with field windings from any 12V Ford generator, and use the rest, armature with pulley and ends from your 6V generator. Then it looks exactly the same. It will generate about four less amps at peak than if a 12V armature was used. ..B.
