Is there anyone out there who makes the left side front and tail pipes for a '48 to '52 Ford F1?

I had mine made up at an old school muffler shop in Marion, Indiana several years ago. I remember as a kid watching these artists eyeball a pair of dual pipes and was pleased to find that there was still someone around that did the job.

Mine was made by a very good muffler shop near our machine shop. It takes an experienced bender to reach around the pedals, etc. Most kits don't fit out of the box.

This is the best advice you can get. I'm getting ready to put duals on my "flattie" '40 ford and there's no way I would buy a pre-fab kit.

I don't know about the f1, but a 40 ford is very tight getting the exhaust past the pedal box area. I just put a system on my 41 pu and opted to go for a crossover pipe to the right and run a single pipe down that side, but using a 52 Mercury right side manifold. I did do it before on my 40 but it was very tight. One thing that is easy to overlook is the travel of the pedals, especially the clutch pedal.

Ditto the advice to go to a real muffler shop.

On my '41 coupe I started with a really bad dual exhaust with stock manifolds and the left exhaust went under instead of through the frame. Needless to say the wishbone hit the exhaust pipe on every bump. Went to Muffler King (the real deal old time muffler shop) in Newport News to install Reds Headers and fix the exhaust routing. Had to put two washers on top of the motor mounts to get steering box clearance. On the first try, the clutch pedal hit the exhaust pipe, but the shop flattened the pipe a little and now all is well.

Heartthrob Exhaust in Litchfield, Minnesota makes really smooth mandrel-bent pipes. They have inventory for most 80's and up cars and trucks but have the equipment to make anything. If you have the drawings they can probably make it.

I took passenger side repro exhaust pipes from carpenter then cut and flipped pieces to make the left side for my 52. I bought two sets of passenger sides and ran both down the passenger side for my 52 panel.
