Sparton horn, is it Model A or Model B?

Is this a Model A Sparton horn or could it be a 1932 Model B horn?
I've never seen this version of the horn motor.

just checked a boattail horn i had on the bench...exactly the same motor as model a horns so cant help ya there...my guess is its a 12v horn? due to just one field

The A and B horns have a rotated bolt pattern relative to each other where the body bolts together but I dont have anything handy to compare. Do you have an A horn to compare?

It doesn't match either Model A horns or my 32 boat tail, so I'd say it's for something else. That armature setup is unlike anything I've seen. I hope someone can identify it.

I have an old late 20's /early 30's Chevy(Delco ?) oogah horn that has a motor just like the one on yours but the front bell is straight- not flared out. Maybe someone tried to jerryrig a Model A front bell with a Chevy horn motor. Interesting horn none the less - how does it sound ?

The horn does spin, but I haven't fooled with it to get a sound.
I matched it up with a model A GIM horn and the bell portion seems to be identical.
The motor is obiviously different. The motor is not quite as tall as an A motor.

This motor is a Klaxon motor. They do interchange with some motor base. These motors are 6 volt and are very good ahooga horn motors. You will find these motors on the Klaxon 8 and 12C to name a few.

Definetly a Klaxon motor, I would look to see if the four square pins on the bottom corners are set into four square holes in the base plate or on top of the plate. If on top of the plate then I would look to see if the origional Model A or B bolt holes have been welded closed and smoothed out. For sure though this motor does not belong on this horn. I have repaired and restored a couple of thousand horns of all kinds and never seen a Klaxon motor on a Sparton base plate. Interesting conversion by someone though.

Folks,
I have worked on all five makes of original Model A Horns, and they all have center mounted armatures with field coils on each side of the armature opposite each other mounted on the motor strap. The above Sparton sheet metal looks OK and looks Model A, but that motor is for a different application other than Model A Fords. A vintage mix and match effort.
