Default 34 dash screws, what were they?

the two in the lower outside corners on the face of the dash. the hole seems to be 1/4", there is a recess there for a pan head screw? or oval head counter sunk? nickle or stainless i presume? it seems none of the vendors carry them, and hardware store stainless stuff is phillips head (yuk) are they the same as some other part that is available, like dovetail screws? thanks, skip

None of the above; they were #12-24 binding head screws, nickel plated steel. A binding head screw has a wider, flatter head than a pan head screw as shown in the examples in the illustration below (derived from one of Ford's period hardware catalogs).

thank you david. the 6 that hold the dash to the cowl are "truss head", i bought a bag of 50 from mcmaster car, (i guess i need to buy a lot more old fords) , they are a wider head, convex on the top. so a "binding head" screw is wider also, like a pan head but wider with some sort of serrations for binding? like a lock washer built in? i can see the part numbers in your chart, but cant quite read the descriptions. thanks for your effort, i'll google it up and try to find some.

yeah, mcmaster has em, stainless, 9 bucks for 50+shipping, i suppose 18 bucks for 2 screws. hard to justify that, i'd really have to buy more old fords. i will look some more.

cas3,

No serrations and no lock washers built in with binding head screws (and they weren't used with separate lock washers in the two subject locations on the sides of the dash). The heads are flat on top as shown.

Truss head screws were also used to attach the glove box to the dash so maybe you won't have to buy quite so many old Fords to use up your screws.

As for Roy's business, I think it is a bit premature to expect an answer as to its future.

i did quite a bit of internet nonsense and found that without Roy, we dont get what we want. nobody i found had any nickel plated binder head, or much other nickel for that matter. yesterday i had a rain day off from work, and about 3 o'clock i gave up and ordered the 50 stainless ones from mcmaster carr, and today when i got home they were there! how do they do that? some buffing and they will be good with me

Roy had bolts "made" (ya he had bolts made) nobody makes. Maybe it wasn't a money maker and more a sustaining passion. I don't know. But he was the first person in this industry that was straight with me and actually talked me out of buying some stuff I didn't need (and I didn't really even know him). My 38 truck hood support bolts where/are not standard order from mcmaster or anywhere on the planet. Less about finish. He didn't have everything and sometimes the kits had regular stuff (it all worked). But if if you needed something he had it or would tell you were to go. Parkerized bolt Finishes included. Guess nickel and dime'ng us out of the whats great.

They are still operating for now.
