What is the easy way to take out the oil pan baffle?

I turn mine upside down-after the oil is all out and then take a 12" dift and hammer it out out through the oil drain plug opening. She pops right out after a good whack or two.

To me, the easiest is to hold it upside down at chest level, and drop it on the ground. If the flanged area of the pan hits flat upon the ground the tray pops right out.

What Brent said. Just raise the (empty!) oil pan about level with your head, and drop it squarely on the ground (not concrete). It will pop right out.

The way I remove them is to set the pan on the ground. Take a length of 2X2, a long wooden hammer handle, or a baseball bat. Put it down into the hole in the tray where the oil pump goes, put your foot on the opposide side of the pan, and give it a flick of the wrist.

Sorry for my ignorance, as I am a newbie. Why would you need / want to take it out?

After trying screwdrivers the first time, dropping it etc. I came on a method like Tom Endys, I had my lift up about the heigth of the pan, slid it under some and use a length of pipe about 2" dia, it worked so easy I went and got 2 other pans and popped them apart also ---a lever down the oil pump hole and a quick kick would probably work too.

It needs to come out to clean under it.

But for me "e a s y" don't include goin' and finding a 2x4 (requires movin' stuff off the top of it to find one) and then findin' a baseball bat --or an unbroken hammer handle long enuf to reach down in there (but not good enuf that I would care about submerging in the "oily goop"), ......then cleanin' my tennis shoe up after my foot slipped and my shoe landed in the remaining sludge at the bottom of the pan, ...and then goin' and cleaning out the parts washer first so I have room to put 'Juniors' baseball bat in there to clean off the once-hidden grease from under the tray that has now made a mess on his handle, ...followed by spending a few minutes finding a clean rag to wipe off Junior's Baseball Bat (--or wipe off the remaining piece of my now broken hammer handle).
Like I said, for me the easiest ....

I just take it and use the palm of my hand and slam it down flat onto a piece of thick cardboard on a concrete floor. The baffle goes pop! everytime.

No need for 2x4s or bats.

I do it like Mr Tube and Brent. I take out 20 or so a year and have only seen one that wouldn't come out this way. It was welded in and the welds were covered with sludge so I couldn't see the welds. I ground them off, straightened the pan sides and reinstalled it after cleaning, worked fine.

For me trying to get the baffle out, no. But for me trying to install the pan and gasket yes I'm sure there would be plenty of laughing.

The first time the gasket fell half in the pan and I didn't realize. I don't like doing oil pan gaskets.

You need to remove the sludge and also inspect the oil pan bottom for pin holes caused by the sludge.

We need to get something straight.

It is not a drop, it is a accurately controlled descent with a very abrupt stop.
