1950 convertible door glass
Hi,all.
Can you educate me... what is the procedure to install new door glass in the stainless frame of the convertible door. I have the new rubbers but it seems to be impossible to slide the glass in place because there is those spot welded tabs which are inside the frame. I used the search function , no luck and google wasn't my friend this time.... Any help would be appreciated. Ari |

Re: 1950 convertible door glass
Did a couple of these many years ago.
As I recall the only tabs inside the door window channel were in the corners and the glass has to be sufficiently relieved to provide clearance. The glass setting tape has to be the correct thickness in order for the glass to be installed in the frame channel. Now if you are talking about the vent glass the glass still has to be relieved in the location of the pivots and the setting tape has to be the correct thickness.

Thanks for response . Vent windows were easy, because of that setting tape , but for Conv. door glass is surrounded with that SS framing and glass is kept place with dedicated rubber "channels". There is two brackets spot welded on lover part of the framing where the lower window channel (which mechanism is connected) is attached with screws. And those brackets prevents the glass to be slid in . |

Re: 1950 convertible door glass
I have no experience with this but have you compared the new rubber with the old? Compared glass thickness? Might try trimming rubber where it butts against the spot welds.
