I have an old Snap On toe in gauge. Works fine for the Model A.

I use one made by Wheel A Matic

You can find used ones on Ebay on occasion.

Has anyone in the forum tried Tenhulzen Auto 2200 Toe Plates?

Looks promising to me.

I used the one by Fred O Matic. I made it from a shower curtain rod, with a tape scale where the two parts slide together. Learned about this method on Ford Barn.

Yup, like Fred I made my own from parts I bought. Stickie tape from Hobby Lobby for $2.39 and a shower curtain from Wallmart for about $10.

I will have to check the paper work, I don't think it was called a Fred O Matic.

I used painters tape around the tire, ascribed a line on that. Then used a plumb bob to make a mark on painters tape on the floor in front and behind the tire. Then just measure from one side to the other to get your front measurement and rear measurement.
Do that once, then push the car forward and do it again. Took about 20 minutes.

This picture shows it on jack stands. But I ended up dropping the car on the ground to get the final measurements. It actually added 1/4" toe out when you drop it, so it is a must and is why everyone always tell you to do it on the ground and not on jack stands.

A quick check of toe-in can be done by feel. If there is too much toe-in, the inside edge of the tire tread pattern will feel very sharp compared to the outside edge. If there is too much toe-out, the opposite is true, the outside edge will feel sharp compared to the inside edge. When you have the correct toe-in, both inside and outside tire tread pattern edges will feel the same, slightly rounded. A very easy check for correct toe-in.

Here is another "cheap" way to try to do it. See pictures.

Some say, "WHY TOE IN"?
When driving, the tires tend to go OUT! Toe In compensates for that & the tires go STRAIGHT ahead.
Often, check your tread for side to side scuff marks & determine if you're toed IN or toed OUT.

Not sure as to how and where on your setup you would take your measurements?

I still use my 4 Texaco oil cans and two steel 6' straight edges from 1961. The oil cans are still full.
