Removal rear engine support from '36 trans.
Have the transmission out of the car with the rear engine support attached to to the rear of the trans. It looks as though the engine support should pull off the rear of trans. but won't budge. How do I get this off?

Re: Removal rear engine support from '36 trans.
Assuming the u-joint has been removed, the retainer (and rear support assy) can be removed once the six bolts in the center are removed. They may been safety wired....just snip that and pull the wire scraps. The bolt heads may be covered in grease but they're there. With the bolts out the entire assy will pull off. Sometimes it takes a tap with a mallet to separate it.
The assy is usually stuck together. You may need to pry it apart with screwdrivers. The rubber ring is most likely not reuseable. This rubber is bonded to the pressed steel support and is available as a new part. Pry it all apart. Save the 4 special L head bolts to be cleaned up and reused. The flat steel plate and the cast rear retainer can likewise be cleaned and reused. We stock these parts but never have many of the L head bolts. This link shows the parts involved: http://www.vanpeltsales.com/FH_web/f...rearmounts.htm
